The 2017 Chardonnay is a vineyard-designated Dijon Clone 76 hailing from 210-acre Gran Moraine Vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. Gran Morain is comprised of well-drained, ancient Willakenzie and Hazelair soils and is situated in the foothills of the Coast Rande at 180-240 elevation 10 miles west of Carlton, Oregon.
This Alsatian varietal (Eastern France on the border of Germany) is a genetic sibling of Chardonnay and is reminiscent of Pinot Blanc. This vintage delivers notes of star anise, Asian pear, and a hint of Asian spices. This wine is bright and spunky with formidable presence and structure.
