In 2015 Scott was given the opportunity to work with this Alsatian white variety, receiving fruit from Zenith Vineyard, in the heart of the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. Auxerrois is a naturally rich, full bodied variety, which Scott fermented and matured in French oak barrels.
Aromas of Asian pear, exotic starfruit, melon, and white musk waft from the glass on a wave of floral talc. Bright, green apple; lime zest; and almond, finishing on a peppery note, offers a classic Gruner flavor profile. The palate is tense and energetic thanks to integrated acidity that lifts and lengthens the memorable finish.
The 2015 Raptor Ridge Pinot Gris was fermented and matured in stainless steel. We strive to maintain a balance of fruit and acidity, while presenting the luscious texture and aromas that the fruit offers. The 2015 vintage includes fruit from Hawk's View, Dion and Olenik Vineyards (Chehalem Mountains AVA), Bellevue Cross (McMinnville AVA,) and Rudolfo Vineyard, in Wren, Oregon.
This balanced wine was barrel fermented, with just 10% new oak, the remainder neutral. To create a creamy, round texture, regular lees stirring was employed. Malolactic fermentation contributed balanced acidity. The resulting wine has a creamy and round texture and mouthfeel, yet is still very clean and crisp, focused on the ripe citrus spectrum.
